Things & Co

 Stage/Praktikum/Elective time/Field work/Practical training/Internship/etc.

At our first working day Rick & I supposed to be at 14p.m., but we get lost in the big Campus with a lot of Rugby fields. With 40min delay we arrived finally the right place and learn a lot. They have a very high education level and a lot of knowledge about Trigger points and sport injuries. Tomorrow will be our second day at the private Physio and we hope we get there on time. Today was our first day in the Kalafong Hospital and there we find out that we are not registered at the University of Pretoria. That means that we not allowed treating patients! This is Africa, got the money 5 month ago but not processing our data’s. Never mind, we get a tour and saw how they work in the hospital. I work 2 weeks in the orthopedics and have one ward (section) with convicted person/prisoners. One of them was my first patient and he came under supervision and in chains to the treatment room. At least he don’t kill me ;-) I’m very exciting what surprises the have for me in the future.

   Countryside vs. City life

While writing this letter I’m sitting in front of our ‘’Ferrari Golf 1’’ and enjoying the hot sun which burn’s on my skin. We’re heading to John & Marie’s mansion hoe living in Boschpoort ± 400Km from Pretoria. The last few days we had experienced a lot. We went to the world biggest Zoo in Pretoria City. It was quite amazing to see this plenty and for European being not well-known creatures. But to see animals locked up behind gates it’s not I came for. So we stopped on the way to John & Marie at the Shingalana Wildlife Resort where we saw, just for a few seconds a head from a Hippo, some Giraffes, water Buffalos and Lions how we’re also locked up like in the Zoo. The Rhinos we expect to see don’t show up. The most exciting experience at the Safari tour was the Jeep how’s shut down in middle of a sharp hill. Rick, Huub & me pushing the Jeep downhill and jump on the back on the car J. Back on the road again heading to John & Marie we drove 20km on a dirt track. Very exciting but bad for the car (it’s not ours so what!!!!) After the long, long drive across the countryside we arrived at the huge property. Our Quarter was a garage with field beds in it. We become acquainted with some African Physio’s and enjoyed relaxing in a 30degre warm Jacuzzi. Rick and I can’t sleep because of the freshness by night so we barely sleep and got up early in the morning. We started our work after breakfast at 10a.m. and massaged a lot runner and made some experience with acute overuse tissues.
